Morocco ! Marruecos ! Maroc ! مغربي ! (Part 2) | "MOVE ! Dance your life" A film by Fanny Jean-Noël

Morocco ! Marruecos ! Maroc ! مغربي ! (Part 2)

We finished the movie just on time the day before my birthday. My old good friends Aziz and Faïsa were on holiday in Marrakech. Perfect timing to celebrate my birthday with them. I spent most of my birth day in transports. First squeezed in a grand taxi, from Guelmim to Agadir, pretty awful, with the heat and the impossibility to open the windows, the small space for our butts… Then the bus from Agadir to Marrakech was fully booked, we had to take another taxi, this time just with the two of us. Pretty comfortable ! We went back to our riad in the medina, quickly changed and showered and met my friends who had prepared a very nice surprise for me. They took me to one of the best restaurants in town, the Palace Jade Mahal, with belly dancers and concert at the end. It was really great to be back with close friends, eat something else than couscous and get a chance to dance myself. It could have been a perfect birthday night, but right after a few dances, my stomach betrayed me and I became really sick ! :-( The joy of traveling !

My sickness was quite a handicap for a while but I found the strength to explore a bit more of Morocco for another week. We decided to go back into the desert, crossing the Atlas, this time towards the East, to Ouarzazate, the film studios town (Lauwrence of Arabie, Asterix were shot there) and the desert of Zagora. Mostly we wanted to travel along the Draa Valley. It was one of the best landscapes I ever seen during this world tour.
During our stay in Ouarzazate we met amazing musicians coming back from M’hamid nomad festival. They jammed in the restaurant for a great pleasure, a nice way to end our trip on our last night in the East. I strongly suggest to discover them : the Mauritanian beautiful Noura and the charismatic Malian Samba Touré (Desert Blues).

On our way back to Marrakech to catch our flight to Paris, we went through the Atlas mountains again but this time they were all covered up by snow. Very pretty ! I came back to Paris, still sick and had to deal with it for a while till I was able to leave for the next destination : Georgia !
